Akira Kurusu is falsely blamed for assault after helping someone. He transfers to Shujin Academy in Tokyo under the weight of damaging rumors. Isolation follows him at his new school. After meeting the rebellious Ryuji Sakamoto, he wanders into a mysterious castle called a Palace. The strange place reveals students treated as servants to a kinglike figure.
