In 1963 near Los Angeles, curious diner worker Shelly meets a man just released after a hundred-year prison sentence. The man appears old in history but not in body. With nowhere for him to go, she draws him into her family's orbit. The pair starts taking delivery jobs and becomes known for moving from place to place. Their work brings them into cases that mix errands, danger, and small mysteries.
