San lives in a town inhabited only by children. The children fear adults, who appear as monsters that abduct them. San's older brother Haru leads the army fighting that threat. Wanting to follow Haru, San tries to join the army but fails the entrance exam. As San falls into despair, Haru's condition suddenly worsens.
