A serious and studious high school girl named Mari develops a secret crush on An, a basketball club member who is free-spirited and completely different from her in personality. As entrance exams approach, she wants to create lasting memories from her high school days and uses a certain "lie" involving her friend, the basketball team's manager, to get closer to him. An's tsundere attitude makes any romantic progress slow and difficult, much like a local train stopping at every station. The series begins with her one-sided feelings gradually starting to move forward amid everyday school life and subtle interactions. Later volumes continue to follow the characters into university and beyond, introducing new people and situations while maintaining the central focus on their evolving relationship.
