Goro Kumagaya loves soccer and has the size and talent for the sport. After an accident ruins his entrance exam for a powerhouse public high school, he enrolls at nearby Kawasaki High. The school has a weak soccer club known by an unflattering nickname. As a goalkeeper, Goro begins changing the team from within. The players aim for the National Stadium while their club gains direction and confidence.
