Nanase, a college student with a heavy dose of affection, finds herself thrilled by the prospect of a new family when her mother remarries. However, her excitement turns to frustration when she meets her new stepbrother, Takahashi, a hardworking but perpetually exhausted office worker who seems indifferent to her attempts at bonding. Determined to break through his walls, Nanase declares, "I want to [do something to] my stepbrother!"—setting off a series of comedic and chaotic attempts to get closer.
