Sagichi, a skilled enforcer known as a "gold binder" who polices trespassing ninja in the gold mines of Kai, is unexpectedly chosen as the next leader of the gold-digging clan by their dying chief, Ogashira. Despite Ogashira’s son Kinzo, a talented vein-finder, being a contender, Sagichi is tasked with leading the clan away from the declining Takeda forces to sell their mining skills elsewhere. Alongside Ten, a swift intelligence-gatherer called an "ear-runner," Sagichi commands a hundred clan members to undertake a mission to seize Musashi’s Matsuyama Castle. They face perilous challenges, including navigating treacherous terrains and confronting enemy forces, as they deploy their unique tunneling expertise in warfare.
