In a quiet village in ancient China, Kaka, an unusually strong and spirited girl, lives with her beloved master, Genjou, a kind but frail young priest who once saved her life. When poisoned water threatens their home, Genjou sets off for the capital to find a solution, leaving Kaka to protect their village. But disaster strikes when demons burn everything down, transforming the villagers into monkeys. Desperate to find Genjou, Kaka discovers his body is now possessed by a haughty spirit with a mission to overthrow the Demon King who has secretly replaced the human Emperor.
