On a rainy day in Kyoto, university freshman Ichigo Kaida, exhausted from part-time jobs, finds an abandoned schnauzer named Koppe Pan by the Kamogawa River. A note reveals Koppe Pan loves bread but refuses other food, leading to its abandonment by a previous owner. Ichigo, feeling a connection, takes the emaciated dog home and struggles to care for it as Koppe Pan rejects most meals. Their early interactions, marked by Ichigo’s earnest efforts and Koppe Pan’s stubbornness, begin to shift Ichigo’s lonely life.
