In Taisho-era Japan, Kazunari Kyogoku, a shrewd company president, can hear people’s inner thoughts, a gift that fuels his success but leaves him cynical and distrustful. Seeking wealth and connections, he proposes to Nana Suwabe, a mute noblewoman from the prestigious Suwabe family, only to find he cannot hear her thoughts, sparking his curiosity.
