When all the Tōda under Soyon’s care mysteriously die, she faces harsh judgment, leaving Erin to navigate the consequences of her mother’s fate. Rescued by Joun, a kind beekeeper, Erin begins a new life, learning about the natural world and her own resilience. Her encounter with a majestic royal beast, a symbol of the king’s authority, ignites her fascination with these creatures and their care.
