In 2005, children have started disappearing one after another. Hana is one of them, and she hates both the grotesque other world and being treated like she is ill. Tarou is her opposite, because he enjoys those trips into the unknown. After the two are badly wounded there, they survive by merging with a tail-like creature. They return as something no longer fully human and are met by a mysterious woman named Riezuru Yoshida.
