In a supernatural version of 1960s America, a cursed magician travels with a childlike companion who keeps his curse at bay. He carries a magic gun and pursues dangerous hidden objectives. The pair sneak into a casino run by the Leland Gang to steal another magic gun. Their plan draws in Paula Winston, an undercover journalist working as a waitress. The botched theft forces him to protect Paula while facing the gang.
