Takuya Enoki loses his mother in a car accident and lives with his father and two-year-old brother. Although he is still in elementary school, he handles housework and cares for Minoru. The pressure grows when neighbors blame him for Minoru's crying. After saving Minoru from a dangerous dog, Takuya recognizes his brother's loneliness. Their early family life centers on grief, responsibility, and the brothers learning to care for each other.
