Kotaro, a four-year-old boy, suddenly moves into the Shimizu apartment building. He lives by himself despite his age. His manners and life skills are often steadier than those of the flawed adults around him. The neighbors are drawn into his daily routines and odd independence. Small encounters in the apartment slowly reveal that his past carries painful weight.
