Hotaruko transfers from Tokyo to a small town with a strong connection to the traditional dance called Owara. She knows how to dance it, but nerves keep her from performing in front of other people. A local high school boy named Hikaru is drawn to her and watches over her. At the same time, an old link between Hotaruko and Hikaru's uncle hangs over them in silence. Secrets from the past begin to stir the town around them.
