Mirai Kakehashi is a student who attempts to end his life. An angel named Nasse saves him and grants him special powers. He learns that thirteen chosen humans are candidates to replace God, who will retire in 999 days. The powers give Mirai a chance at happiness but also draw him into a deadly selection process. The early supernatural conflict begins with despair, rescue, and an unwanted role in a divine contest.
