In a quiet rural village, a series of mysterious livestock deaths prompts the arrival of Inugami, a flamboyantly dressed man from Tokyo tasked with solving the case. During his investigation, he encounters Kabane, a boy known as “Dorotabo,” who carries an enigmatic aura and lives with his aunt. Kabane, born from a human and a bloodless ghoul, begins assisting Inugami at his detective agency, which specializes in supernatural incidents involving creatures called “kemono.” The duo meets Shiki, a half-human, half-spider kemono, and Akira, a snow spirit searching for his twin brother, forming a team to tackle bizarre cases. Their early adventures in Tokyo involve confronting kemono-related mysteries, uncovering hidden truths about their own identities and the world of monsters.
